Gordon Ramsay’s first tip is to use a fry pan with confidence! I think I already use a frypan with confidence, so I believe I am off to a good start. For me it’s really important to use a frypan that isn’t to heavy, otherwise once you add a gorgeous bolognaise sauce, or a creamy fettuccine pasta I struggle to be able to tip the meal into a dish without burning myself or making a mess.
The first chef skill Gordon introduces in this episode is how to best slice a capsicum. I do think you can cut capsicums a multitude of different ways to try and get some different shapes for salads and dinner dishes, but for dicing this tip was very helpful!
The second skill is to lay meat away from you when adding to a hot pan. I thought this was an incredible tip and it baffles me how I did not stumble across this oil splatter minimising trick myself.
